Our Story Started With a Simple Question

What if we stopped waiting for people to get hurt?

Our Story 1

Prevention Doesn’t Live in A Clinic

Jon Kabance spent years working one-on-one with patients in a clinical setting. People who would come to him already injured, already in pain, already facing a recovery that would reshape their daily lives.

He was good at the work. But the more time he spent treating injuries, the more he found himself thinking about the ones that didn’t have to happen.

Jon is a registered kinesiotherapist with deep expertise in physiology, anatomy, and biomechanics. He understood the body. He understood how it moves, where it breaks down, and what it needs to stay healthy under physical demand. And he kept coming back to the same realization: that knowledge didn’t have to live inside a clinic. It could live where the risk actually was. At work.

So he left the clinic behind and took it there.

Built Different On Purpose

When the reactive model is broken, you build a better one.

In 2004, Jon partnered with Ron Schakowsky, a business consultant with two decades of experience helping organizations maximize their potential, and BIOKINETIX was born.

The mission was straightforward, even if the work wasn’t: reverse the traditionally reactive approach to occupational healthcare. Stop waiting for injuries to happen. Start preventing them.

They looked to sports medicine, a field that had long understood prevention as its most powerful tool, and built a methodology around it. One that could be brought directly into industrial environments, embedded alongside the workforce, and designed to address the specific physical demands of the work itself.

More than twenty years later, that mission didn’t change. The science has gotten sharper. The tools have gotten better. But the reason we show up every day is still the same.

Our Story 2

The Cost of Waiting

The reactive model of occupational health has a price and most of it never shows up in a single line item.
Workers’ comp. Lost time. Reduced productivity. Those are the numbers organizations tend to track. But the human cost runs deeper. A repetitive stress injury sustained at work doesn’t stay at work. It follows people home. It changes how they move, how they sleep, how they spend time with their families. It’s there when they try to pick up their kids, swing a golf club, or just get through a morning without pain.
That lost quality of life, that downtime, is what BIOKINETIX was founded to prevent.

Not just for the organization’s bottom line. For the people doing the work.

Built on Sports Medicine. Powered by Relationships.

The science tells you what works. The relationship makes it stick.

Sports medicine has always known that prevention is the most powerful strategy for protecting the body against the demands of physical performance. BIOKINETIX brought that thinking into the industrial environment, combining sports medicine principles, medical ergonomics, and exercise-based programming to address risk at the source.

Our approach is non-patient-based by design. We’re not waiting for someone to walk through a door in pain. We’re on the floor, building relationships, observing job tasks, and making the kind of daily adjustments that keep that moment from ever arriving.

We believe the relationship is the program. Not the paperwork. Not the reporting. The trust built between our team and yours. One conversation, one coaching moment, one warm-up at a time.

Our Story 4

Most Programs Fail and We Know Why

Every year, organizations invest in health and wellness programs that gain some early traction and quietly fade. The participation numbers look fine in the first quarter. By year two, the only people still engaged are the ones who were already healthy.

We’ve studied this. The pattern is consistent: programs fail when they don’t address the people who need them most, when they treat engagement as a metric instead of a relationship, and when they mistake a launch for a culture change.

BIOKINETIX is built differently. Our programs are grounded in TASC Methodology: a proprietary framework we developed to ensure every program is custom-built, organizationally supported, and designed to sustain long after the initial rollout. We don’t measure success by how well a program starts. We measure it by how long it lasts and what it does to injury rates over time.

The organizations that have been with us for five, ten, fifteen years aren’t still with us because the contract renewed. They’re still with us because the program keeps working.

Twenty Years on the Floor

Since 2004, BIOKINETIX has built and sustained injury prevention programs across construction, manufacturing, transportation, utilities, food processing, and beyond. The organizations we work with range from regional operators to national enterprises with workforces in the tens of thousands.
The results are measurable: reduced injury rates, lower workers’ comp costs, improved job task performance, and a return on investment that has averaged 6-to-1 across our client base.
But the number we’re most proud of isn’t on a spreadsheet. It’s the worker who told one of our athletic trainers that they finally made it through a full weekend without back pain for the first time in years. The new hire who learned how to move safely before a bad habit had a chance to form. The team that started the day with a warm-up because they wanted to. Not because they had to.

That’s the Science of More UpTime. And it’s why we come to work.

Let’s talk about your team.

Whether you’re building a program from scratch or looking to evolve what you already have, we’d love to hear about your team.
